Although lucky locals have enjoyed Norske Nook home cooking - especially the
delicious pies - since 1973, it wasn't until Jane and Michael Stern's 1978 "Roadfood"
book (a tribute to America's cafes and diners) rated the Norske Nook as one of the ten
best in the nation that the Norske Nook received national attention.
In the 1992 "Roadfood" book, the Norske Nook again receives high praise from the Sterns as "one of the great gastronomical magnets of the upper Midwest."
